IPL Players Auction 2025 LIVE Updates: Rishabh Pant became the costliest ever buy at the IPL auction, with Lucknow Super Giants getting him for a whopping Rs 27 crore even after Delhi Capitals exercised their Right to Match option. Shreyas Iyer, meanwhile, went to Punjab Kings for Rs 26.75 crore, who also got Arshdeep Singh with a RTM at Rs 18 crore. Moments before Pant emerged as the most expensive player, Iyer surpassed the previous record held by Australian pacer Mitchell Starc, who was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 24.75 crore in the last auction. Pant and Iyer now hold the top two most expensive recruits at the auction. In marquee set 2, KL Rahul went for Rs 14 crore to Delhi Capitals, which wasn’t in the top 5 bids of the first two sets.
An eclectic pool of 577 cricketers are up for recruitment as the IPL Auction goes overseas yet again. The mega auction is highly anticipated this year just for the sheer number of marquee Indian players who find themselves in the pool. The auction extravaganza will be held across two days at the Abadi Al Johar Arena in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, as the teams embrace yet another Mega Auction cycle. 204 slots will be open across 10 franchises after 46 cricketers were retained by the October 31 deadline.
